Emergency Information
If you are presently suffering from uncontrolled anxiety or panic attacks, or if you feel you are out of control and having a “nervous breakdown,” you belong in the nearest emergency room. Especially if you feel that you might hurt yourself in an attempt to stop the emotional pain, please call 911 and explain this to the operator, or have a friend drive you to the hospital.
You will be surprised how fast a shot or pill of a simple anti-anxiety drug will abort the frightening symptoms that you are now experiencing. Even though you are feeling a sense of doom and may believe you are dying, you will feel better within minutes of being given the proper medical treatment. Do not hesitate out of fear of humiliation or judgment. This happens every day to people from all cultures, backgrounds, education levels, and socioeconomic status. The hospital staff has seen this many times before and will treat you with compassion and understanding. They will likely give you a few days worth of medication until you can see your regular doctor or a specialist.
If you are suicidal, a specialist will be called in to talk to you and get you the support and help you need. It may save your life and spare your friends and family from a lifetime of sorrow and regret. Once things are under control and you are under the care of a medical professional, you can start the Anxiety Toolbox Program and find long-term answers for overcoming your anxiety condition.
